District Hall has hundreds of visitors every day. They come from all over the world for many different reasons — some are just passing through, some are attending meetings or workshops, and some people are here more than they’re in their own homes. To read all of our Community Stories, click here!

Amrita Aviyente recently caught our attention. She checked into District Hall over 100 times on Swarm, and has been the “Mayor” of District Hall for a while now! We think that’s pretty cool. What’s even cooler is that Amrita has her own startup — and she runs it almost exclusively out of District Hall.

Aviyente is originally from Delhi, India, but has lived in Boston for over 10 years. After attending graduate school at Bentley University, she worked for Fidelity Investments as a software engineer.

Date My Wardrobe, which officially re-launched in May, allows users to rent clothes from local high-end fashion designers for a fraction of the cost (and if they really like the clothes, they can buy them after, as well.) The app is beneficial for both users and designers — it’s an affordable way for individuals to explore high-end fashion, and it gives local designers a new platform to reach potential customers.

District Hall, as Aviyente says, is like a second home for herself and Date My Wardrobe. She sets up in our public lounge almost every day — from working with interns to meeting with fashion designers, District Hall provides everything she needs to operate a fully-functional startup app. Aviyente also showcased Date My Wardrobe at a Massachusetts Innovation Night last year, which featured companies all founded or co-founded by women. District Hall is especially useful for early stage founders, Aviyente says, as the lounge space is totally free.

Date My Wardrobe was a part of Babson College’s Butler Venture Accelerator Program. The app has been featured in BostInno and Founderswire.
