Scientific consensus concludes that human activity is shaping a future of higher global temperatures and sea-levels, dwindling biodiversity, increased desertification, and potentially massive displacement of human populations.

If there is to be a future in which human beings are able to live sustainably in relationship to each other and their environment then the architectural profession must redefine its role and responsibilities in relationship to the realms of nature and society. A world where human development interacts with natural processes in a regenerative manner requires a profession that is focused on healthy systems, synergistic interactions between energy, water, and the health of all organisms and their environment.
