Spaces: Gather at District Hall

Posted on Oct 31, 2013

We’re featuring each of the spaces here at District Hall one by one, so you can get to know more about how we’ve worked to make the building flexible, open and exciting. Today, the focus is on our new restaurant: Gather.

District Hall - Gather Dining Room

At District Hall, we’ve got two amazing hospitality partners, Gather and Brew, making sure that our innovation community is well-fed. Brew opens early [6:30 am on weekdays!] and Gather stays open late, so whether it’s an early morning meeting or late-night conversations, we’ve got you covered.

When the idea for District Hall was being developed, the restaurant was an important part of the concept. There are lots of innovation spaces throughout the city, but most of the time they are up in an office building — walking by on the street, you might never know how much amazing innovative activity is happening. At District Hall, all of the space is right on the ground floor, and the restaurant and café send a clear message to passers-by: come on in and see what’s happening! Even if you’ve never been to a meetup or you’ve never heard of a hackathon, you can walk in, grab a coffee, and connect with the community here.

Our friends at BostInno wrote all about Gather in this article from last week-here’s an excerpt below:

Gather is District Hall’s own restaurant, boasting a rustic-industrial atmosphere complete with dangling bare bulbs, finished wood-slab tables, and steel stools. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide a view of the sky over the Harbor, as well as the nearby ICA building. The restaurant, as well as the District Hall building, was designed by BostInno’s 50 on Fire 2012 winner Hacin and Associates.

There’s no shortage of dinner items that you’ll want to try on the Gather menu — which, at the restaurant, is made out of different wrapping paper patterns. Whether you want to grab a snack (mini chicken and waffle bites, bacon-wrapped dates and bleu cheese), share some small plates or appetizers (spicy, roasted duck tacos, marrow toast, charcuterie featuring wild boar and foie gras), or enjoy an entree (veal gnocchi, salmon and brussels sprouts), the offerings are both timeless and adventurous, making the restaurant a perfect accent to an innovation hub.

For dessert, Heath bar tops a butterscotch pudding, a huge banana split comes complete with rainbow sprinkles, and a fresh tart is made with a sweet crust, cream and berries. And over at the bar, take the edge off of a long day with simple twists on a classic martini, like a Basil Berry or a Ginger Lemon version, or sip a Cucumber Cooly — a champagne-topped, blackberry-and-cucumber fused libation. On tap, Gather offers Lagunitas, Dogfish Head, Allagash White, Whale’s Tale, Sam, and more.

Whether you’re working on the latest in tech innovation to bring to Boston, or just strolling through the Seaport, you’ll want to make this Harborside spot a stop on your list.

Stop by and bring your friends-we’ll see you there!
